Safety Coordinator Duties

Our Safety Coordinators come with a wide range of work experience, many with trade skills, and some with advanced college degrees. All demonstrate an attitude of sober, common sense as well as professionalism concerning safety. They take their role seriously and focus primarily on the human element. We encourage a team approach toward workers which is demonstrated as the most effective organizational model for maintaining a safe workplace yet keeping morale high and increasing productivity.

Although specific duties may vary with each jobsite, most require the coordinator to:

  • Review the project safety program and implement standardized procedures to assure compliance.
  • Act as a professional safety resource to onsite management which is to include but not limited to the following activities:
  • Jobsite inspections and audit reports
  • Prepare a Site Specific Safety Plan and Job Hazard Analyses for the various tasks.
  • Oversee training workers in areas as needed, especially the “competent persons”.
  • Represent “client company” at project safety meetings.
  • Assure required safety reports are completed and submitted on a timely basis.
  • Perform thorough accident/incident investigations to determine root causes.
  • NSC assists in overseeing that an injured employee receives proper treatment from a medical professional.

The major advantages of outsourcing this function are the ease in hiring qualified, experienced personnel and lower overhead since it is strictly a project expense.
